In southwestern Ontario there are three universities, all with names that begin with W – a minor thing that has caused me no end of trouble.
One very cold winter night I needed a boost long after the lab had closed, so I called CAA and gave them directions to the University of Waterloo’s Hagey Hall parking lot.
About an hour later I called again, wondering if they had got lost. They hadn’t. The problem was that I was at the University of Western Ontario’s Huron Flats parking lot.
Wrong town. Wrong university. Wrong parking lot.
Now I am back living in northern Ontario, were we have two universities – both with names that begin with L – and two colleges – both with names that begin wth C – again causing me no end of trouble.
Stupid alphabet, stupid education system, and most certainly, stupid me.
