So I am trying to sign up to X-Box Live. I can’t remember my Windows Live Messenger password that I have on the e-mail account I want to use, so I reset the password TWICE and it is telling me that the password I am using is incorrect. CAN’T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT? I have been thinking about getting another PC thinking that the reasons I switched to Mac might not have been all that bad, but now I am reminded exactly why I hate Microsoft because they fail at the simplest of tasks and there is no real recourse to get anything done. Gah I fucking hate that company. ---

Well it was that I didn’t want to have to make a new e-mail account to use with it, and I have it entered into my chat client to talk to my ex-wife in Israel. I am not attached to it, I made a GMail account and set it up. As for this new X-Box Experience what the fuck is this about? I made an avatar and he looks like Lara Croft’s gay younger brother. ---

I logically analyze a joke that I didn’t find funny and it falls flat. I can see why it might not work on message boards. 😉 It’s a great way to ruin someone’s cut down in real life though. Especially if they start trying to explain the joke. 😉 ---

The appropriate response is no response at all like your confusion never happened, or, if available a joke about your confusion. It’s perfect because then what you can do? Yeah it’s a fun one, and I’m not worried about my skizzills, I was getting my ass handed to me in Halo all night. 😉 That doesn’t bother me. The amount of sucking Microsoft has done in the process that has impeded my getting my ass handed to me is what has pissed me off. 😉 This new X-Box Experience OS is the lamest shit ever. It won’t let me watch Transformers the Movie after my daughter keeps turning it off. Maybe she is a technopath and is keeping it from working. ---

My biggest Microsoft rant is the way they butchered the search functions, and didn’t leave classic search in as a back up. First off the Vista search window is ugly as Carl Rove having sex with a rotten squid. Then finding things is utter ass. It might find it, it might not. I shouldn’t have to keep a third party search program on my usb drive. It randomly ignores certain file extensions, as well as any that don’t have any associations so you have to rebuild the bloody database to add them to it’s catalog. It makes messing with programs that use different, unassociated text files for configuration a pain. Don’t get me started on why the default notepad don’t understand unix style line breaks. I mean what the fuck? You open up a text file from unix land it’s all on one line. The programmer who made it should have their testicles peeled away with an onion peeler for being such a dick. You think “ah ha! I’ll add a wild card extension (.\*) to it’s catalog settings and tell it to catalog those!”, but it won’t let you. I’m thinking maybe there’s a registry setting I could hack but meh. That’d only be on my computer. There’s a whole world of computers with mangled, and broken file searchs thanks to Vista’s incompotent design. The software engineer who designed it should be tied down and forced to watch reruns of Alley Mcbeal till they go mad. ---

When I was trying to create an xbox live account, I tried to create “senorbeef”… it told me i couldn’t because senorbeef@(hotmail) was already taken. But it also gave me the option to enter the password for the hotmail account to prove that’s who I was. So I did. And it put my senorbeef windows live profile onto my account. So I tried to create the xbl name SenorBeef again. Nope - can’t do it - senorbeef@(hotmail) is already taken! So it said I couldn’t use the name since it was taken, but then gave me the chance to prove the name was mine, and after I did, still said I couldn’t use the name because it was taken. Annoying. I had to sign up as “SenorBeef0” instead. ---

I signed up for XBL for the first time last month, and I had so much trouble linking my XBL account to my hotmail account, I finally gave up. The kicker? I worked at Microsoft for ten years. If anybody should be able to figure it out, it would be me. As a side note, we got XBL so we could stream netflix movies (which is totally awesome,) and I’m checking out the online gameplay for the first time. My only previous online experiences had been playing Halo for PC online, as well as some older games. XBL sucks. Totally, totally sucks. I spend more time waiting for matches than I do actually playing. Halo for PC online was far better than this. Nicer people, too. ---

Well, in my experience of being a member of XBL since it started, and having years and years of PC gaming experience, I think XBL is great. Some games are better than others at matchmaking. There’s also a 1-800 number, staffed 24 hours a day, which can help you if you really need to link up a hotmail account. What games are you trying to play online? They implement matchmaking differently. But it seems to me you are just looking to bash something, since you netflix is awesome and it’s part of XBL too.
