The Raiders will not beat the Buccaneers.

This Superbowl is going to be reminiscent of the Superbowls of the late 80’s and early to mid 90’s where the NFC dominated whatever lamb-to-the-slaughter AFC team managed to hoist themselves out the dung heap. In this case, it’s the Raiders.

I predict not just a win for the Bucs, but a crushing decimation of the Silver and Bleak.

Pirate Superbowl? Heh, good one.

I really firured the Iggles would run away with this one. Tampa Bay is to be commended.

Next week… Raiders 34, Bucs 27.

FUCK!☹

Seeing that the Packers were out of it I wanted to see **ANYBODY** except\*\* Tampa Bay in it!

We went down to Tampa in November to pay $200 a ticket watch the Bucs humilliate the Pack. Then we stayed another 2 weeks. You would have thought those fuckers had cured cancer, AIDS, and Crabbyness the way everyone was ranting on the television.
“We beat the Pack! We beat the Pack! We’re the greatest!”
Hey, I can understand that shit for the first few days, but they were doing it even after the Tampa/New Orleans game. What the fuck?

Call me a prick, but I really wanted to see Tampa Bays fans taken down a peg by having their team lose yesterday! Like the OP says:Fucking Philadelphia Eagles!

First of all, props to the Bucs. They came prepared, they had a game plan, and they looked like a real Super Bowl team.

The Eagles were so out-coached that the NFL might want to re-think that whole Coach of the Year nonsense. Reid coached scared the whole game.

Why the hell would he forget what got us there? Why didn’t he throw 9 men at Johnson early? The last thing he should have said to Jim Johnson, the Defensive Coordinator, before the game started was, “I want to see Brad Johnson on his back, looking through his ear hole, 3 or 4 times before the half. Make it happen.” _That’s_ what Philly brings to the party on defense: a befuddling array of blitz packages that throw offenses off kilter and has them guessing wrong the rest of the game.

What did we do? Nothing. We looked like a high school team. We deserved to lose. And now it’s clear that our offense is not strong enough to overcome a weak performance by our defense against a real contender. I am so disgusted right now, words cannot express it.

Well, although the Eagles definitely deserved to lose yesterday, i’m afraid i don’t quite undertand why some people are so down on Donovan McNabb. Sure, he didn’t have his greatest game ever, but he was far from being the sole cause of the Philadelphia loss.

Also, but for a matter of a yard or so, the game could have had a very different result. The Eagles were down 20-10, but had marched down the field to about the 20-yard mark and were looking good when Ronde Barber intercepted and ran 80-odd yards for a TD. If the Eagles had scored there, the finish might have been very close.

Now, i know it was McNabb who threw the pick, but it was also a fantastic defensive play by Barber. Also, only seconds before, McNabb had made one of the most amazing plays ever to get the Eagles within striking distance. It looked for all the world like he was going to be sacked, but he shrugged of two huge defenders, circled around, evaded another, and threw a bullet that was caught and advanced Philadelphia down into the red zone.

Hey, this sort of thing appears to be par for the course among local media outlets and fans. Here in Baltimore, the local sports reporters fall all over themselves to cheer the Ravens when they win, and always manage to say something - anything - positive about them when they play like shit and get their asses kicked. Never once have i heard these “journalists” offer a critical comment about the team as a whole or about individual players. It’s one big fucking love-fest all around.

A few weeks before the playoffs, Baltimore had a mathematical chance of making the post-season if it won both its remaining games and got lucky with a couple of other results. The local Fox news had an ex-Raven (can’t remember who) on their sports show, and the two sports reporter asked him if he thought the Ravens would make the playoffs. The ex-player said “No” and pointed out that, with the way the Ravens had been playing and the teams they were to come up against in the following two weeks, it was highly unlikely they would win both games and get the results they needed elsewhere.

This was a perfectly reasonable analysis of the situation (and entirely correct, as it turned out), but from the reaction of the reporters you would think the guy had made a speech condoning pedophilia or something. There was a stunned silence, and then one of these idiots turned to the camera, gave a half-hearted laugh, and said something like, “Well, folks, he’s entitled to his opinion and we’re entitled to ours.” Bruce Cunningham, you’re a fucking dickhead!

Not really, JB. Apparently they had only one week off in 1982, 1990, 1993, and 1999. There’s an article here on the topic:

Taken from the link:

> [@](#):
>
> Discussion about preparing for the Super Bowl invariably leads to debate over how much time teams have – or need.
>
> Almost any coach will tell you that he prefers two weeks between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. Most players think two weeks is too long.
>
> This year is a rarity, with just seven days off before the big game. Since 1970, the only other one-week pauses were after the 1982, 1990, 1993, and 1999 seasons – each necessitated by some peculiarity in the schedule. (Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego also will have a one-week gap.)

Blame it all on William Penn. He put a curse on the city. For years & years there was a city ordinance that no building within the city limits may be taller than City Hall (a statue of Penn is on the top). Philly sports has some great times in the 60s, 70s, and the early 80s. The last championship team was the 1983 76ers. The very next year, 1984, the building ordinace was removed allowing skyscrapers to tower above William Penn.

Ever since buildings have been taller than Penn we haven’t won a goddamn thing.

The solution is simple, to appease William Penn we must blow up the Philly skyline (this is a joke, blowing up any buildings is a horrible idea).

I am also surprised that there is not at least one weekend off between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. It seems like at least one time, there were TWO weekends off.

If the Packers had made the Super Bowl, I would have had a tough choice to make because the Michigan Wolverines women’s basketball team is playing Penn State at 5 pm on the same day. Since the Packers are not in the SB, I will go to Ann Arbor and watch the Wolverine Women play PSU.

I must say, i don’t quite understand the concern over playing the Superbowl the week after the conference championship games. These guys are professsional athletes; that’s what they get paid the outrageous salaries for. And any coach who needs two weeks to prepare his strategy shouldn’t even have got to the Superbowl in the first place.

Just my 2c.

Our sportscasters have no problems at all criticizing the Bucs when it’s warranted. After the horrible playoff showings of the previous two tears, they placed the blame exactly where it belonged. Additionally, the organization was lambasted over the way they let Dungy go and the search for a new coach.
