> [NBC.com](http://NBC.com) and [Emmys.com](http://Emmys.com) are partnering with [Ustream.com](http://Ustream.com) to produce Backstage Live @ the Emmys, where cameras will capture candid moments from stars as they prepare to take the stage at the Awards, NBC announced Wednesday. The show will stream live on the three sites simultaneously to the on-air NBC broadcast of the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
>
> The show will also feature the “thank you” camera, where Emmy winners will be able to continue their speeches after the pit orchestra has cued them off the stage.

So does anyone care about this? I guess some people must think it’s a good idea. I just don’t care much for award shows.

I won’t be watching the Emmys, period. If I was in the entertainment biz, I imagine that I’d go for the full speeches, but I’m not, so I won’t even subject myself to the broadcast version on TV.

If I were an award recipient, I’d feel really strange saying my thank-you speech, walking off the stage to applause, then down some stairs to a camera, where I was expected to talk into it and say _even more_ thank-yous. Does anyone else think this would be weird?

“HURRAY I JUST WON AN EMMY”

“Congratulations **multimediac17** on your win! Any MORE people you’d like to thank, after you’ve had ample time to thank them not five seconds ago, where people were actually watching and caring?”

“Er… _awkward stare into the camera_”

I’ll most likely record the Emmy’s so I can fast forward to what I want to see. If Julie Bowen were to win for “Modern Family”, I would look at the online longer speech if I could select just her speech. If I have to go thru the whole thing, the answer is no.

I don’t watch the Emmys at all, so I won’t be watching this… but I confess that if they did it for the Oscars, I _might_ tune in. The Oscar ceremony has been such a mess the last few years, though…
