There are lots of good causes, and you never know what will strike a chord with someone. For instance, I’ve posted a thread the past few years about a charity event I run. I’ve gotten some pleasant replies and nice conversation from it, but no donations. I’m completely ok with that - it’s a pretty specific cause in a pretty specific location. But I put it out there for Dopers in case it hits someone, and because we’re a community that often likes to know what each other is up to. Pending moderator approval, I will probably post about the event again this year, with updated pictures from last years. -D/a ---

Let me explain the cat with no eyelids thing a little further: The cat is a few months old and belongs to my ex, who found her abandoned in a parking lot at 5 weeks old. She needs reconstructive surgery to form eyelids for her, since her eyes dry out easily and she needs eye drops applied several times a day. This cat will go blind unless something is done for her soon. There is an IndieGoGo campaign for her, and I just wanted to publicize this in the hopes of raising funds for this. I will abide by the admins’ decision. Also, if this is approved, there will definitely be kitty pictures. 🙂 ---
