Funniest movie you've ever seen?

Well, that would be:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Being John Malkovich
Blazing Saddles
Office Space
Mystery Men (which is also, incidentally, the greatest moive of all times.)

In no particular order—

THE RITZ—F. MURRAY ABRAHAM as a “queen”. Glorious.
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL–“message for you sir”.
AIRPLANE—ABRAHAMS & ZUCKER, the rest is silence.
THE PRODUCERS—GENE WILDER’S “security blanket” scene!
THE REF–DENIS LEARY makes MY Christmas.
ARTHUR—“it’s what I live for”.
PLAY IT AGAIN SAM—“I knew I had him when I hit him in the knee with my face”.

Most of my other favs have already been mentioned (Young Frankenstein,Blazing Saddles,Raising Arizona,Duck Soup-but Room Service should be added,) but I need to add,
A Fish Called Wanda

or was I the only person laughing myself sick at this one?

I also really liked The Replacements…Keanu didn’t suck in it…

“Oh look, bundt cake.”

[sub]Going back to my corner now[/sub]

OK, I understand that one person’s opinion is as good as another’s, and humor is a subjective thing, but some of the “funniest movies EVER” mentioned in this thread have been pretty questionable. (Then again, I’m sure someone is saying that about my choices as well.)

No Particular order:

South Park, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
Tommy Boy
Animal House
Blues Brothers
Caddyshack
Stripes
Orgazmo
Mallrats
The Goonies
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
SpaceBalls
thats all for now

peace, JB

Man, don’t any of you people watch Hong Kong films? The funniest man on the planet is Stephen Chow, aka Chow Sing Chi.

All his films are subtitled, and they still tear the pants off anything produced in the English language.

His best is “Love on Delivery” (LOCK!), but anything he’s done will have you pissing yourself and choking on your popcorn. Especially if he’s teaming up with Ng Man Tat.

No its not a comedy but my vote goes to “Fargo”. Not only among the funniest movies I’ve seen but among the best. Anyone who understands my handle would wonder how many times I’ve seen it.

In no particualar order, these are the funniest I have ever seen…

[ul]
[li]Monty Python and the Holy Grail[/li][li]Dumb and Dumber[/li][li]Office Space[/li][li]Pulp Fiction “*Nah man, we weren’t gonne store the mutha fu…”…too funny[/li][/ul]

There was one other, but it has slipped my mind…

Raising Arizona
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
Clerks
Annie Hall

Oh, come on—NOBODY else likes silent comedy? Keaton? Lloyd? Chaplin? Linder? Normand? The Keystone Kops?

And don’t forget:
**
The Pink Panther
A Shot in The Dark**

Peter Sellers was a genius!

Can’t peg the names of any of the silent movies I laughed through as a young’un. All silent films are funny to me because of the jerkiness and story telling techniques.

My fav has got to be Repo Man “I can’t understand you, you must be using the scrambler”–“I can’t hear you I’m using the scrambler!”

“All silent films are funny to me because of the jerkiness and story telling techniques.”

. . . [Eve sobs quietly into her Cherry Phosphate] . . .

Blazing Saddles
Scary Movie
There’s Something About Mary

[sup]that’s all I can think of for now…[/sup]

A lot of my favorites have already been named, but I’m amazed at how many of these I don’t find funny.

My list:

A Night at the Opera
What’s Up, Doc?
Kentucky Fried Movie
The Naked Gun
The Mad Adventures of “Rabbi” Jacob (translated French Film)
The General (Buster Keaton at his best)
And Now for Something Completely Different (The very first Monty Python Movie)
Young Frankenstein
Airplane
Airplane II
Top Secret!

I concur with a lot of these. Top Secret, Airplane, the whole Marx Brothers classic litany (Duck Soup, Monkey Business, Horsefeathers, A Night At The Opera), Young Frankenstein, Office Space…

But last night, I got ahold of the DVD of Muppets From Space, and a good friend.

My face still hurts.

If you haven’t seen it, try it out. There are enough gags in that movie to make three normal comedies.

I like many of the films already mentioned. I’d like to add a few I haven’t seen named:

**Amazon Women on the Moon

CB4

Hollywood Shuffle

I’m Gonna Get You Sucka

Raw**

The funniest single SCENE I’ve seen in a movie was the “fight” scene in High FIdelity between Tim Robbins and the crew of John Cuzak’s record shop.

BTW, very much agree with both Pulp Fiction AND Night at the Roxbury.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. I also thought the second one was funny as hell, too.

South Park: bigger, Longer, And Uncut

The Beavus and Butthead movie.

Mrs. Doubtfire

Road Trip

Most of the Cheech and Chong movies.

Half Baked.

Airplane!

Hot Shots!

The Naked Gun

History Of The World, Part One

Hardware Wars (Star Wars parody)

Closet Cases Of The Nerd Kind (A Close Encounters parody, nach)

The Blues Brothers

Alladin

Monty Python And The Quest For The Holy Graile

Kentucky Fried Movie

Amazon Women On The Moon

Top Secret!

Raising Arizona

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

Clerks, Mall Rats, and Chasing Amy (Dogma wasn’t as funny)

Tommy Boy

Animal House

A Fish Called Wanda

Fear Of A Black Hat (Simular to CB4)

CB4

I’m Gonna Get You Sucka! (worth renting for Chris Rock’s in the resturant alone)

Spaceballs

Coming To America

Boomerang

Scary Movie

Trading Places

Midnight Run

National Lampoon’s Vacation

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

Ok, it bombed in the theaters, but I LOVED Major Payne w/ Damon Wayans. I thought that was one GREAT movie. Also, Liar Liar and pretty much anything with Jim Carrey in it!! Dumber Dumber!

Well, I g2g yall!! Cya!!

Did anyone ever see Major Payne by the way?

Oh, c’mon, Sealemon, I KNOW you’re an intelligent and well-versed person (though at the moment I can’t remember which sex you are . . . ). Surely you have seen at least ONE movie made before 1975 that you liked?
