_beep_

“Hi Sam, it’s Diane. I’m just calling to say I love you.”

_beep_

“Hi Sam, it’s Woody. We need to order more straws and peanuts. Oh, and I have a message from Diane. I love you. OK, bye Sam.”

_beep_

“Sam? It’s Woody again. When I said that I love you, that wasn’t me saying that, that was from Diane. I don’t love you. Well, bye Sam.”

_beep_

“Sam? It’s Woody. Don’t get me wrong, I think you’re great guy and all.”

There was a British show called _Murder Most Horrid_. It was an anthology show, with Dawn French starring as a different character in each episode.

The whole episode _Overkill_ is brilliant, and the body count reaches double digits.

From the Vicar of Dibley:

Alice: You know that stuff that they’re selling now at the local shop?
Vicar: Which stuff?
Alice: I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.
Vicar: Oh, yes.
Alice: Well, you know, I can’t believe it’s not butter.
Vicar: Yeah, well, I believe that is the idea, yeah.
Alice: Then yesterday, um, I went to Crookendon and I bought this other stuff like a sort of home brand…you know.
Vicar: Yes…
Alice: And, you know, I can’t believe it’s not I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.
Vicar: Hmm. I’m losing you now…
Alice: All right, well, you know I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter?
Vicar: Yeah, yeah, yeah… You think it is butter?
Alice: No, no. I mean you know the stuff I can’t believe is not butter is called I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter?
Vicar: Probably, yeah, yeah…
Alice: Well, I can’t believe the stuff that is not I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter is not I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and I can’t believe that both I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and the stuff that I can’t believe is not I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter are both, in fact, not butter. And I believe they both might be butter…in a cunning disguise…and in fact there’s a lot more butter around than we all thought there was.

That one, the episode where Ralph “offers” to pick up the dinner tab, and also, the “Chef Of The Future” episode. (“Can it core a apple?” “Oh, it can core a apple”)

But I have to agree with ianzin, the Fawlty Towers “The Germans” cannot be topped.

The episode of Everybody Loves Raymond where they came back from a trip and left the suitcase on the stairs, each of them thinking the other would take it up, then getting progressively more stubborn that it wasn’t THEIR job to take it up, then Ray putting some old cheese in it to make Deb put it away when it started to smell but she dug her feet in and people were coming to the house going “GOD WHAT’S THAT SMELL?!” “Oh, the suitcase.”

There was another episode where Deb gave Ray a DVD player and Marie said “What is it? Is it for porn?” Ray blurts: “MA!!!” and she says scoldingly: “I don’t like that, Raymond.” We are constantly saying “I don’t like that, Raymond” at our house.

I always liked the line from the Batman TV movie/pilot episode, where Batman’s trying to dispose of a bomb before it goes off, but there’s something or someone everywhere he tries to get rid of it.

**Batman** : Some days, you just can’t get rid of a bomb!

THat has become an embedded metaphor in our house when one of us doesn’t want to do something. Great episode.
The Dick Van Dyke show scene where Laura Petrie has ‘outed’ Alan Brady’s toupee, and he reads her the riot act over it. “Fellas…there she is…the little lady who put you out of business!”
Oh, and the funniest single episode ever is indeed the German episode on Fawlty Towers.

That scene reminds me how much I really did love cheers.

Big shout out to DMark for this thread! I love this thread so much.

The moments in the OP are classic. I remember when the little kid hits the clown and says, “Happy Birthday, Dorothy”, it was just a such a sweet and funny moment. Love Dorothy Zbornack, R.I.P.

And when Jackie makes the call to tell the reletive that Dad DIED, that makes me laugh just remembering.

I [love this scene from cheers](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlc05uEPLxo). It is the timing of that slap back, man. Such quick and perfect timing. So unexpected.

Great episode, but what floored me was the Clash of the Titans arc:

“Well, this is a very convenient alibi you’ve concocted here, Mr. James.”
“Thank you.”
“Yes, and I suppose now you’re going to tell the court you have no idea who this mysterious stranger was or where he could be located today.”
“Of course I know who it was. It was Adam West.”
“Adam West?”
“Yeah.”
_“Batman?”_
“That’s the one.”
“No. Adam West is not DB Cooper.”

…and cue, out of nowhere, Adam West: “I’m afraid I was, your honor.”

And that’s all just a quick throwaway to move the story along, so we can watch Patrick Warburton square off against Stephen Root for increasingly over-the-top feats of plainspokenly cheerful end-justifies-the-means one-upmanship; the whole thing is absurd, but pairing enthusiasm with straightforward _ **blandness** _ makes for a whole different _ **kind** _ of zany.

I’m watching the Seinfeld episode where Kramer accepts a Tony Award. He offers a woman some beef jerky and then clamps his teeth onto it and pulls so he can get a piece to eat. As he tears the piece loose, he punches a man in the back of the head. I laugh ever time.

This is from a long time ago, but I still remember it so it must have been pretty funny.

An episode of Barney Miller. Yemana was in the back room and got bit by a rat on the knee. Wojo pulls out his night stick and says something like, “I’ll take care of this. How’d he get your knee, were you kneeling down?”

Yemana says, “No, I was standing up. He just reared up on his hind legs and bit me”

Wojo stares at him for a moment, then puts away the night stick and pulls out his gun and disappears into the back room.

From this week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory. When Raj is trying to clean the drawn on penis on the Aquaman doll with his finger, I couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard.

I vote for the whole two-parter of Cheers when Woody gets married to Kelly. Everything goes wrong, and the whole cast scrambles to keep everything together. I could watch it a million times.
