Awful German Language and Fenimore Cooper’s Literary Offenses get my votes. There’s some great stuff in Innocents Abroad…I recall something about riding on under-sized donkeys; when they wanted to get off they merely put their feet down and let the donkey walk out from under them. For some reason that image has stuck with me.
