One of the funniest “Funny if Sung By” I know of is a real song. Cyndi Lauper singing “When You Were Mine” by Prince, without changing the words. An example: _When you were mine, I used to let you wear all of my clothes Now I spend my time, following him whenever he’s with you_ or _I know (I know) that you’re sleeping with another guy_ The ambiguity of it is delicious - is she a lesbian? is he gay? I’ve included this on many mix tapes for this reason alone. ---

How about some Faire tunes? “The Mermaid” performed by Phish “The Sailor’s Prayer” sung by a bartender “Mary Ellen Carter” by Gordon Lightfoot (just for contrast) “Swing a Cat” by the Stray Cats “King of the Cannibal Islands” by Jeffrey Dahmer (OK, maybe not) (Sublight, a couple of buddies and I spent much of a 12-hour trip doing Chistopher Walken and Sean Connery impressions last week. I even sang the first of the songs above in my Connery voice. 🙂 ) ---
