Ah, why not.

A bit of setup: Rick Mercer is sort of the Canadian equivalent of Jon Stewart–a comedian “newscaster” who sends up politicians and riffs on world affairs. And on his previous show, _This Hour Has 22 Minutes_ (roughly the same as _The Daily Show_), he had a segment called _Talking to Americans_–a sketch that had him talking to random Americans in the U.S. and getting answers like: “What’s Canada’s main export?” “…igloos?” “Staplers!” “Snowshoes?” “And as for our prime minister, Tim Horton’s…”

Anyways. One of his most famous questions was: how many states does Canada have?

Rick went around, asking all the people he could find. Answers he got: “Uh, I dunno.” “Ten? Twelve?” “Lots…”

Finally, he talked to a woman with her little boy, and… oh, hell, the video’s [here](http://www.metacafe.com/watch/108207/canada_talks_to_americans/). Watch it, it’s fabulous. 😃
