Fun stuff. Or should I say FNSTFF. (I also don’t have a vanity plate, never have, never will. In my case it’s because once you put a vanity plate on a car you pretty much destroy its value as a getaway vehicle.) ---

They’re not vanity plates, as you can’t get those in Spain, but our current format is three letters followed by four numbers. I’ve seen GRL, I’ve seen CAD, I’ve seen COK, and I think someone in marketing really missed a wonderful opportunity, because the car with BMW#### plates I did see was a Volkswagen Polo - BMW should have reserved that whole run! ---

Even though my state has a huge number of native Spanish speakers, the DMV apparently doesn’t employ any of them. I’ve seen the following plate twice at the same parking lot: PUTO. Next time, I’m getting a pic. ---

One of my friends girlfriend (now wife) had a regular randomly-generated plate with three numbers and three letters. The three letters? FEA (she wasn’t, but living in a highly Spanish-speaking area wasn’t fun with those plates.) ---

A few weeks ago, I was behind a car (NJ) with the license plate: “3M TA3” I realized that, as seen in the rear view mirror, this would say “EAT ME” I can’t believe this got past the MVC censors. ---

Here in WI the standard plates now have 3 numbers followed by 3 letters. I don’t envy anyone who’s not thin but has a plate like 403-LBS (which I’ve seen). ---

One placed I used to work had a sporty little two-seater BMW in the parking lot with the vanity plate “HOT COCO.” Bizarrely, it wasn’t driven by a saucy young black girl, but by a depressed-looking middle-aged white woman. My wife’s friend’s brother likes to irritate people, and has a vanity plate with letters carefully selected to make no sensible phrase (although I forget now what they are). His purpose was solely to frustrate total strangers. ---
