A mention of the “resolute desk” got me thinking that there must be other named pieces of furniture. I imagine that the thrones of several monarchies are named, as well as at least a few other pieces.
This is proving to be beyond my Google-fu.

Can anybody provide some examples?

(If this is better suited to a more informal forum please move)

Let’s put it in MPSIMS. I think it’s better suited.

St. Edward’s Chair got dusted off for a special occasion last year.

> **[Coronation Chair](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronation_Chair)**
>
> The Coronation Chair, also known as St Edward's Chair or King Edward's Chair, is an ancient wooden chair\[a\] on which British monarchs sit when they are invested with regalia and crowned at their coronations. It was commissioned in 1296 by King Edward I to contain the Stone of Scone, which he had captured from the Scots. The chair was named after Edward the Confessor and for centuries (until 1997) it was kept in his shrine at Westminster Abbey. The Coronation Chair was last used at the Coronati

Well, St Edward’s Chair is a wooden seat used in the coronation of British monarchs. St. Peter’s Chair is a wooden seat kept in a shrine in St. Peter’s in Rome and said by tradition to have been used by Peter as Bishop of Rome. No doubt, as the OP suggests, their are other named thrones used by various monarchs.

Very often these terms refer not only to the particular item of furniture but also to the office with which it is associated — the Woolsack and the Chair of St Peter are both used this way. The Peacock Thone was used to refer to the position of the Mughal Emperor long after the actual throne had been captured by the Iranians and broken up.
