Futuristic Sci-Fi Movies Set in a Year That Has Come to Pass

How’d they put all the Starbucks with deli counters out of business?

Alt+0233.

Alex and his droogs stole a sports car in A Clockwork Orange. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I believe he mentioned it as a “brand-new 1994 Durango” (while there is a vehicle called the Durango on the market right now, it’s not a sports car).

Ugh, I could’ve sworn I logged in as myself! Guess not. :smack:

Above post made by me.

Wasn’t Alien Nation supposed to be set a few years in the future? One of the TV movies centered around the millenium, but it was made in '96.

IIRC, the opening title, showing an airport with space shuttles, said simply, THE FUTURE.

TED TO ELAINE: But we aren’t living in the past any more. Or the present. This is the future!

It had the Alien ship coming to earth in 1991 and the NewComers becoming the newest ethnic group in California a few years later.

what year was Blade Runner set in? nevermind a quick google shows 2019. Alien? cant find any info on that one.

Things to Come

“The year is 1987 and NASA launches the last of America’s deep space probes. In a freak mishap Ranger 3 and its pilot, Captain William ‘Buck’ Rogers, are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support systems and returns Buck Rogers to Earth 500 years later.”

To boldly come where no one has come before …

There’s a book, Yesterday’s Tomorrows, which covers popular visions of the future (both fictional and supposedly realistic). Quite fascinating stuff, with excellent graphics.

According to this site:
Alien - June 3-6, 2122
Aliens - July 27-28, 2179
Alien III - August 9-12, 2179
Alien Resurrection - January 3-6, 2381

I don’t know if it’ll be adjusted for the upcoming film, but Philip K. Dick’s A Scanner Darkly is set in 1994.

The TV series “Robotech” has the SDF-1 crash-land on Earth in 1999.

I guess I missed it. :frowning:

Sigh. Yes, I see it.

No need to point out I’m posting duplicate info.

I’ve been crunching numbers all day. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
