Well Halloween recently passed and all the talk about vampires reminded me that I love garlic, but I never can keep it in the house. Then I decided I would like a nice garlic cooking oil, but I don’t know how to proceed. Can anybody tell me what kind of oil I should use and how much garlic and how long to leave it. I want to use it for cooking and marinades etc…but not for peanut butter. 😉

Thanks in advance: Keith

I just want to say I really like SOAR ([www.recipesource.com](http://www.recipesource.com)) for recipes.

And I thought this was a thread about something French.

Please be careful making your own garlic oil, as there is a risk of botulism. Most suggest storing the homemade oil in the refrigerator and discarding any unused oil after 3 weeks, tops. Maybe purchasing a premade one with anti-bacterials added would be a better idea than making your own in this case.
Cites can be found [here,](http://www.co.benton.or.us/health/eh/fd.htm)[here](http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/gh/misc/institute/61ghtv11.htm)and [here](http://www.state.nv.us/health/bhps/ehs/major.htm). [sub]I’m sure there’s more warnings out there on this too, but it was the first 3, most reputable sites I could find in a quick search.[/sub]

I love Gaelic oil, but you do have to make sure you get the stringy kilt bits out…what? Oh…

Nevermind…
