Does anyone else have the problem with file transfer not working with gaim (connected to aim)? I’m currently using Windows XP, gaim v 1.2.0, and before you ask, no, i’m not behind a firewall. Thanks, Art ---

Is the person you are trying to send or receive the file from behind a firewall? ---

I don’t think so… besides I can file/send with aim, just not gaim… so I’m pretty sure it’s not a firewall problem. Here’s a quick convo I had with a friend: (13:35:49) newcomb being: are you behind a firewall? (13:41:21) C For Chat: err (13:41:22) C For Chat: i duno (13:41:22) C For Chat: y? (13:41:41) newcomb being: i want to see if my file transfer works (13:41:48) C For Chat: ko (13:41:49) C For Chat: ok (13:42:04) C For Chat: i turned off the windows firewall (13:42:11) C For Chat: not sure if there’re any others hiding on my comp (13:42:44) Your IM Image was not sent. You must be Direct Connected to send IM Images. First of all, I don’t even know how to direct connect, I had to ask him to connect to me… but it didn’t work. Also, when I try to send a file I just get the transfer manager thing popup with no activity on it. I don’t know why it won’t work =( ---

I Googled a bit and it looks like there’s some issues with Gaim and direct connect. I’ve used Gaim for a long time, but I’ve only tried to send a file once and we were both behind firewalls so I gave up right away. Maybe it’s just not a good solution for sending files. ---

Well… I like everything about gaim except this one nagging problem. If I could get it to work it’d be perfect. My friend suggested trillian… I’ve never used it though, does anyone recommend it?
