The rule about these no spoiler threads is that the books don’t exist, period. ---

Thus the “yea-many millions” figure for the presumed seasons-in-the-future confrontation. They need people to handle all the other day-to-day tasks, which the slaves are already used to doing. As for mouths to feed, I’m sure they plunder plenty of food, plus buy some more along the way with their more valuable plunder. People are already bitching about Dany and her peeps prancing around, not yet playing much of a part in the Game of Thrones. I doubt detailing her army’s mundane logistics would be much of a crowd-pleaser. ---

Just how is Danys army staying clean, fed, watered, with pristine armor and weapons? Who’s shoeing the horses, carrying all the stuff they’ve looted and all the other stuff I can’t think of right now? But in terms of making soldiers of them, first of all I don’t think lack of weapons should be an issue. She should have sufficient gold, if not just enough weapons directly by now, to arm everyone from the cities she’s sacked. It seems in GoT world it takes as long to become a great fighter as it does here on earth. So they are going to become “dance masters” in a few months. But relatively weak fighters can be useful in a battle too; see battle of Cannae. ---

In fact, now that I think about it, the shape of [del]Westeros[/del] Europe is all wrong! And why are they all speaking English? There’s no pope in sight! Some guy named Aegon conquered the entire continent 300 years ago? Jesus, it’s a wonder people recognize this as historical Europe at all!
