If she was she’d get rid of it, she’s not that stupid.

> Littlefinger’s accent never bothered me, but he did sound strange during the last episode- almost like he was doing a Christian Bale Batman voice. That whole scene stood out for its expository villainy. Which is to say, wow, Littlefinger was monologging hardcore.

His voice has been like that from the beginning but it was more pronounced in that scene – the deep whisper. The only other thing I’ve seen him in is _The Wire_, where his voice was quite different. I noticed it in his first scene in GoT and wondered if there was something wrong – vocal cord nodes, or something.

And definitely expository, but why? I suppose he thought he had to explain to Sansa why he was waiting there on his ship. I mean seriously, it’s Sansa, not the sharpest tool in the shed. She’s just as likely to think he just happened to be sailing by.

Now she owes him, but she must realize she can’t trust him.

ETA: Yeah, Tyrion’s accent is terrible. He should just give it up – nobody would notice.

> New Daario’s David v. Goliath was a scene that didn’t work for me, or Daeny’s speech (which if I were a Mereen nobleman I’d have ordered horns blown during). Anyone else?

Worked fine for me. Ever since the famous scene with Indy and the swordsman, anyone who does that much preening and parading around before a fight is asking to be swiftly and efficiently dispatched. I felt bad for the horse, though.

Dany’s speech was fine too. Even gave me little chills when she shot the broken collars at the city.

I did get a little bit confused with the way it was shot–it seemed to be inconsistent with which way people were looking. That is, IIRC, one assumes the army is facing the city walls. Dippy the Douchebag comes out on horseback, rides over to the left of the city walls, and starts his whole song and dance routine. Dany and co then continue to stare, nod, and point at the city walls when discussing Dippy, despite the fact that he’s way over to the left somewhere.

That may not be exactly how it was–I’d have to watch it again–but something was off about it like that.

That was the convo with Ned when he warned her to get out of KL.
Cersei Lannister: Do you love your children?
Eddard Stark: With all my heart.
Cersei Lannister: No more than I love mine.
Eddard Stark: And they’re all Jaime’s.
Cersei Lannister: [chuckles] Thank the gods. In the rare event Robert leaves his whores long enough to stumble drunken into my bed, I finish him off in other ways. In the morning, he doesn’t remember.

I think Littlefinger was actually speaking in a sort of stage whisper, since either he or Ser Dontos had made the comment that noise carries over water. That might explain the strangeness of his speech.

Tyrion’s accent isn’t perfect but at least I can tell what he’s going for. Littlefinger drives me crazy because I can’t for the life of me figure out what he’s trying to sound like.

Well, Aidan Gillen is Irish, so maybe his is as much of a blend of his native accent and whatever he’s going for as Peter Dinklage’s native American accent and whatever he’s going for.

Tyrion’s accent doesn’t bother me, but that’s probably because I don’t have a clue how to recognize an actual British accent. Or rather, there’s such a wide variety of British accents that I would fully expect not to recognize a lot of completely legitimate ones.

On the other hand, Littlefinger’s voice has bothered me since day 1, but that’s less his “accent” and more his perpetual whisper thing. Maybe it makes sense for the character, but it’s just a completely bizarre way to talk.

I think he’s trying too hard. He clips his t’s, and he can’t do the a -ah thing, like how Brits say “clahss” and “glahss” and “ahss”.

Brits do American accents much better than vice versa.

I didn’t see it as a filler episode, unless you count everything until the dragons and ice zombies show up as filler.

That city’s defense was top tier. Girl’s got dragons and a slave army and is using propaganda to convince slaves to rebel. Let’s gather our slaves at the gate and send out a dude to flash his pecker. That’ll learn 'em!

I’m not worried about Tyrion getting the axe since he seems like too much of a main protagonist, but I thought the same thing about Ned. So uh, shit?

I’m not either, but Ned was a Season 1 character, meaning he was planned to go from the start, in a surprising manner. I wouldn’t think the same of characters 4-seasons in.

You know who else was in Season 1? [del]Hitler[/del] Tyrion, that’s who. Not to mention Robb, Ned’s wife, pretty much all of the rest of the Starks who were slaughtered at the Red Wedding?

I mean, I’m not **too** worried, but that’s because Tyrion seems to have a plan and has shown himself to be a smart, resourceful guy. But you don’t get plot armor on this show–Tyrion could go as well as anyone.

Toward the end of the episode, the Mary Sue-ing of Dany got cringe inducing.

I hope we next see this brave, beautiful, just and inspiring queen-to-be near the splashing waves on the shore as the sun sets on all the good works that she has done and all the good children she has freed. And then her fucking dragons eat her.

The sub-plot involving Dany has become extremely boring and tedious. I wish someone would just put us all out of our misery and shoot the character dead. If not, then deleting her involvement in the show would be an excellent idea.

It started off with some interest because of her predicament, her brother and her dragons. But it has devolved into something terribly tedious (at least for me).

Things have pretty consistently broken her way since her quest started, but sooner or later Daenerys is going to run into some real obstacles. Maybe that’s what will happen at Meereen.
