He didn’t know. Jon Arryn found out, then he died. Then Ned Stark found out and made a fuss about it, then he died. I don’t mean to insult your intelligence (perhaps your attention span, though) but this is all basic stuff that sets up everything else. You must be missing a lot; it might be worth re-watching.

He had no idea. But Cersei and Ned were pretty sure he would have Cersei, Jaime, and the kids all executed.

I think it’s important to note that the kids are unaware of their parentage.

Joffrey idolized his “father.”

The thing is, if it were official knowledge, they wouldn’t be in line for the throne. And as mentioned above, keeping the secret is what got the last two Hands killed. It’s been blabbed since then but the official line is that they are still King Robert’s kids.

Gendry awkwardly fulfilling his destiny as poor Fleabottom kid turned heir to House Baratheon and Arya as the daughter of Winterfell all grown up and all wrapped up in her career (presumably as an assassin).

Romantic comedy or Season 6?

Robin is the neurotically indulged and manically pampered isolated only child of a psychotic mother, so naturally he is irrationally spoiled and weird as hell, but at least he doesn’t seem evil like Joffrey. (He likes seeing people and things thrown out the moon door, but who wouldn’t at his age?) Always the chance he’ll grow out of it. Of course he’s still her much younger first cousin.

And there was a wedding without anybody being killed or making death threats. Yay progress!

Ned’s the one who put the word out, isn’t he? He told Stannis, at least, and word leaked out from there.

Joffrey was also spoiled. Robin is pretty enthusiastic about killing people for a young child. He’s definitely picked up on Lysa’s craziness.

Off-screen, which is apparently the only place you can have a murder-free wedding in Westeros. At least we’re not in any doubt on whether it was properly consummated, however.

I noticed this episode that Cersei said that Joffrey was her first-born; she also told Catelyn way back when in Season One about her black-haired baby who died. It seemed funny to me that Cersei would have to tell Catelyn about her black-haired baby - I’d think everyone in the kingdom knows when a Queen has a baby. Also, was the black-haired baby her first baby? I think Cersei killed the black-haired baby because it was Robert Baratheon’s, and the result of her being in a marriage she didn’t want, but she truly does seem to love her kids. I’m not sure what is going on with Cersei and her kids.

There was more screaming after this wedding than during any of the murderous ones.

We saw Robb Stark’s wedding, which was a casualty-free affair. The next one he attended, however, not so much. Also the Tyrion/Sansa wedding had a bodycount of zero.

Hmmm, now I’m half-remembering something. Didn’t Ned send out ravens to all seven kingdoms informing everyone about the royal parentage, or lack thereof?

I did have one thought; the really big woman who’s now a knight - the guy who can’t ride or cook who’s following her. His only talent in life is shagging, iirc. He may not be able to ride that horse but … well, I can def see him riding M’lady off into the suset. In style.

I’m pretty sure he sent a message right to Stannis, and then Stannis sent the message to everyone else.

We’re actually slacking a bit this week and last, for a couple of reasons: 1) These last couple of episodes have mostly been ‘piece-moving’ episodes, setting up the board for the ‘holy shit!’ moments to come in the latter half of the season, and, more importantly, 2) We’ve not had any multi-page tangential arguments about potatoes, whether Dany’s ancestors were literally doing the nasty with dragons, or what constitutes consent. (I feel like I’m missing a few things here, but maybe not.)

Amazingly, we also haven’t had TOO many lengthy digressions about what is or is not a spoiler, and the proper type of spikes for mounting the heads of those who fail to spoiler-box said spoilers.
