Funny how no one discovered that for hundreds of years until Sam. Then again, it doesn’t appear that it was ever taken seriously anyway.

Pretty sure they are well aware of the loophole and take advantage when possible, but it’s probably bad form to talk about it.

I don’t know about “ever,” but certainly in the recent past, when the Watch has become a dumping ground for disgraced/exiled nobility and criminals of all kinds, celibacy doesn’t seem to rigorously enforced, to say the least.

Haven’t there been several mentions of a town with a big whorehouse that is frequented by the Night’s Watch crew? I sort of thought that had been going on for a long time.

Not only it has been mentioned, but we saw it. Sam’s girlfriend worked there briefly until everybody was massacred by the wildlings (except her).
Yes, my take is that nobody cares about nightwatch men having sex, as long as it doesn’t have tangible consequences (like your paramour showing up with a baby). I think they have a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. Only the most rigid guys (like Jon Snow) follow it to the letter and beyond. Everybody else use the “loophole” Sam “discovered”.

I’ve come up with a theory that Roose and or Ramsey will either be an important part of the fight against the walkers, or that one or both will die bravely fighting them.

Roose is the warden of the North after all.

That would actually be surprising, and satisfying.

They’d have no trouble hiring Hugo Boss.

Jon Snow certainly was most rigid with Ygritte. ZING! 😛
What the fuck is the deal with Sam anyway. I get that he’s a bit of a dork and a fatbody, but calling him “Sam the Slayer” ironically doesn’t really work if he actually killed as White Walker and a Thenn (sp?), which he did. And why is he still so fat and suck so bad at fighting? All he’s done since joining the watch is fight and train at fighting. And yet motherfuckers GAINED weight since manning the wall!

A lot of the brothers don’t believe that Sam killed a White Walker.

Thank you!
I guess hoping someone would waste hours of time CGing dancing reanimated wildlings is asking for too much. But this one was perfectly synched. Kudos to the maker!

OK, came up with a theory about why the wights didn’t follow the wildlings into the water. It’s pretty obvious the White Walkers and their magic is all about the cold. And in order to be liquid, water has to be above 32 degrees F (Or 0 degrees C for you Euros). Maybe that temperature is critical for White Walker magic – can’t happen at or above 32F, and if the wights enter the water, the magic falls apart and so do they.

Now that’s pretty good fansplaining, I think.

If I was an extra while they were shooting that scene, I’d have organized all my fellow dead wildlings into a Thriller flash mob. I’m sure the thought occurred to somebody already (please please please) and it’ll show up on the DVD release as a bonus track.

They should get [Path of Frost](http://www.wowhead.com/spell=3714/path-of-frost), a la death knights in World of Warcraft. 😛
