How were Team Alive supposed to burn these guys when they were all dead?

You mean, so Jon could have been surrounded by piles of burning corpses instead, while he was also wearing highly inflammable clothes?:dubious:

Clarke said on TV the other day episode 5 is going to be very big so I assume that’s the battle vs. Cersei and friends.

Moderating. Edited to spoiler non-show information from an interview. Please spoiler anything from outside information.

I remember seeing that and thinking, “Yeah, that’s a problem!” and then being a little irritated how the issue was blown off.

I’m only now just getting it–it was an overly-optimistic point for her to make, considering long term survival by that point hardly depended on the food supply. I’m slow.

Not sure that’s right.

1. They didn’t know exactly when the dead were going to arrive and, given that their battle plan involved a) standing in the cold for hours followed by b) manically high intensity running and fighting, even a couple of days of half-rations are going to make a difference to people’s ability to ward off that 100th wight. If the NK had taken a week longer to reach KL the Dothraki would have been eating their horses.\*
2. Having a plan for what happens after you win is usually a good idea. They already knew that their victory would leave them with shit to do re KL and Cersei. Armies march on their stomachs and it’s not at all optimistic for Sansa to be worried about the food/stomach ratio.

The point was ignored because it had to be. They don’t have access to more food. But just because you can’t solve a problem doesn’t mean you shouldn’t note its existence.

\*Admittedly, that would have increased their lifespan, in that it takes longer to run to a pointless death than it does to charge at it on horseback, but still.

We don’t know if regular walkers have anti-dragon capabilities. We only know that the Night King does. If they don’t, then preventing a draconic attack on such valuable strategic assets by conjuring a storm was entirely justified.

Given that the rest of them are [all armed with exactly the same kind of ice-spear](https://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2017/08/white-walkers.png?w=512&h=275) used to bring down Viserion, I think it’s a reasonable inference that they do. (We don’t have to be informed of every single detail to draw inferences based on what they show us.)

> [Arya’s attack on the NK] wasn’t quite out of left field as it seemed at the time. As **Stanislaus** notes, we’ve seen her being trained as an assassin for several seasons. Within the episode, Melisandra’s meaningful pause before “…and blue eyes” was a clear message of what Arya had to do, although I didn’t catch it until after the fact. Bran made a show of giving her the dagger last season, at which point some fans [guessed at its purpose](https://www.nme.com/blogs/tv-blogs/game-thrones-bran-dagger-arya-littlefinger-assassin-2121884). There was the duel between Arya and Brienne last season where Arya showed off her hand-switch trick. And in the first episode of this season, Jon says “how’d you sneak up on me?” when she suddenly appears behind him in the Godswood, the same place she’ll sneak up on the Night King…

All good points.

So hard to set up challenging campaigns when you have no practical experience with how that character will play when you give her a +3 Holy Avenger dagger and the dice actually come out. Game is over before the root beer is even warm.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of pretzels.

Agreed. The timeline would have to be rejiggered, but I’d have liked to have seen zombie Jorah go after Daenerys. Or a blue-eyed Edd confronting Jon.

This is to prevent their later reanimation? Why not stick everyone with a dragon glass splinter?

Can anyone explain how Arya with her powers, can’t simply infiltrate KL, kill Cersei, take her face, and end this thing? What limits does she have, given the evidence of the past episode, never mind nearly entirely wiping out the Freys?

Actually, that might not be a bad idea if just the touch of dragonglass will kill a wight. There would be plenty of small shards around that wouldn’t be any good for weapons but you could slip under the skin.

Too bad you weren’t there.😉
