I haven’t read anything in this thread for fear of spoilers, but I was wondering if there was any discussions of strictly the first book and what goes on in there, as opposed to the series as a whole. I haven’t been able to find anything yet. ---

There _is_ a [non-spoiler background thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=609271) on the HBO series which could serve. If you have book-specific questions, feel free to post them there or start your own GoT book thread. ---
