In a dog’s life
A year is really more like seven
And all too soon a canine
Will be chasing cars in doggie heaven
It seems to me
As we make our own few circles 'round the sun
We get it backwards
And our seven years go by like one
Dog years…It’s the season of the itch
Dog years…With every scratch it reappears
I found a fox
Caught by dogs.
He let me take him in my hands.
His little heart,
It beats so fast,
And I’m ashamed of running away
From nothing real–
I just can’t deal with this,
But I’m still afraid to be there,
Among your hounds of love,
And feel your arms surround me.
I’ve always been a coward,
And never know what’s good for me.
Oh, here I go!
Don’t let me go!
Hold me down!
It’s coming for me through the trees.
Help me, darling,
Help me, please!
Take my shoes off
And throw them in the lake,
And I’ll be
Two steps on the water.
The solitary huntsman
No coat of pink doth wear,
But midnight black from cap to spur
Upon his midnight mare.
He drones a tuneless jingle
In lieu of tally-ho:
“I’ll catch a fox
And put him in a box
And never let him go.”
The solitary huntsman,
He follows silent hounds.
No horn proclaims his joyless sport,
And never a hoofbeat sounds.
His hundred hounds, his thousands,
Their master’s will they know:
To catch a fox
And put him in a box
And never let him go.
For all the fox’s doubling
They track him to his den.
The chase may fill a morning,
Or threescore years and ten.
The huntsman never sated
Screaks to his saddlebow,
“I’ll catch another fox
And put him in a box
And never let him go."
I don’t wanna know your name
'Cause you don’t look the same
The way you did before
Okay, you think you got a pretty face
But the rest of you is out of place
You looked all right before
Fox on the run
You scream and everybody comes a running
Take a run and hide yourself away
Foxy on the run, f-foxy
Fox on the run and hide away
Is it a kind of a dream floating out of the tide?
Following the river of death downstream or is it a dream?
There’s a fog along the horizon; a strange glow in the sky
And nobody seems to know where you go and what does it mean.
Or is it a dream?
Bright eyes burning like fire. Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly suddenly burn so pale, bright eyes?
Is it a kind of shadow reaching into the night?
Wandering over the hills unseen or is it a dream?
There’s a high wind in the trees, a cold sound in the air.
And nobody ever knows when you go and where do you start
Oh, into the dark.
Life isn’t easy from the singular side
Down in the hole, some emotions are hard to hide
It’s your decision, it’s a chance that you take
It’s on your head, it’s a habit that’s hard to break
Do you need a friend, would you tell no lies?
Would you take me in, are you lonely
In the dark - In the dark
In the dark - In the dark
You never listen to the voices inside
They fill your ears as you run to a place to hide
You’re never sure if the illusion is real
You pinch yourself but the memories are all you feel
Can you break away from your alibis
Can you make a play, oh, will you meet me
In the dark - In the dark
In the dark - In the dark
In the dark - In the dark
Don’tcha need me - hey, hey
Don’tcha need me - oh yeah
Don’tcha leave me - hey, hey
Don’tcha need me - oh yeah
I’ve seen that life
Touches us with pain
And we change
Becoming strangers to our friends
Tell me what happens along the way
I thought of us
Hard to talk these days
Did we change
Or were we strangers all along
Tell me what caused us to turn away
There’s a wall of silence
Miles across
A wall between us
Holding back
Holding back our loss
I moved ahead
Thinking you’d be there
But it changed
And now we’re strangers to our past
How did I lose you along the way
There’s a wall of silence
Miles across
A wall between us
Holding back
Holding back our loss
I’ve seen that life
Touches us with pain
And we change
Becoming strangers to ourselves
Tell me what happens along the way
How did I lose you along the way
Holding back the years
Thinking of the fears I’ve had so long
So what if the words ain’t rhyming, did you think that it’s just a game?
I probably didn’t even say that right and I really don’t give a damn
Okay go off and wander, I’m guilty just the same
Sometimes you’re needed badly so please come back again
And if the fires burn out there’s only fire to blame
(Hold back the rain)
No time for worry cause we’re on the roam again
(Hold back the rain)
The clouds all scatter and we ride the outside lane
(Hold back the rain)
Not on your own so help me please, hold back the rain
Oh no, don’t let the rain come down
My roof’s got a hole in it and I might drown
Long as I remember The rain been comin’ down.
Clouds of myst’ry pourin’ Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Tryin’ to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who’ll stop the rain.
Someone told me long ago
There’s a calm before the storm
I know; it’s been comin’ for some time
When it’s over, so they say
It’ll rain a sunny day
I know; shinin’ down like water
I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain?
Comin’ down on a sunny day
When the sky-full of tears
Is threatening to fall
Don’t stand in the way
Come inside, close the door
The sky will clear again
After the rain…
When the clouds overhead
Want to capture your heart
Let them know you are strong
You will not be caught
The clouds will blow away
After the rain…
Fall, fall
Fall, fall
Fall, fall
Fall, fall
After the rain
No clouds over you
After the rain
Sun yellow sky blue
After the rain
Though you can’t see it now
The sun never sets
It always does
What you sometimes forget
The sun will shine again
After the rain
Fall, fall
Fall, fall
Fall, fall
I packed my ammunition
Inside the crowd was shouting, “Encore!”
But I had a most funny feeling
It wasn’t me they were shouting for
So when the tall dark lady smiled at me
I said, “Oh, baby let us go for a ride.”
And we came upon two drinks or four
And popped them oh so neatly inside
Oh, but the rain wasn’t made of water
And the snow didn’t have a place in the sun
So we slipped behind a rainbow
And lay there until we had done
Let me pack you deep in my suitcase
Oh, there’s sure to be room for two
Or you can drive me to the airplane
But don’t let me catch those rainbow blues
She helped me with my suitcase,
She stands before my eyes
Driving me to the airport,
And to the friendly skies.
Going through security
I held her for so long.
She finally looked at me in love,
And she was gone.
Perhaps love is like the ocean, full of comfort, full of pain,
Like a fire when it’s cold outside or thunder when it rains.
If I should live forever and all my dreams come true,
My memories of love will be of you.
Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean’s roar
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more, more!
Singing about good things and the sun that lights the day
I used to sing on the mountains, has the ocean lost its way?
Sitting round singing songs 'til the night turns into day
Used to sing on the mountains, but the mountains washed away
Now I’m singing all my songs to the girl who won my heart
She is only three years old and it’s a real fine way to start
You can have your TV and you nightclubs
And you can have your drive in picture show
I’ll stay here with my little man near
We’ll listen to the radio
Biding my time and
Watching Scotty grow
