Game systems for 3 and 6 year olds?

Heh. That’s one of those house rules I am adamant about. Dad’s Playstation is dad’s only. The kid has his v.Smile to play. No exceptions ever. My BIL lets him play with his 360, that’s his business. You let him just once, and the nagging begins.

My 3-year-old has all the VTech stuff. He won’t touch it, all I hear is “Daddy, wanna play XBox?” An old XBox and GameStop $5 to $10 used games are perfect.

Just to follow up, we gave the boys the DS Lite and the Leapster for Hanukkah. The DS Lite has been returned–the games are mostly too advanced for my 6 year old. Games that were reviewed at parents’ sites all over the net as good for kids 6+ required quite a bit of reading, which was too much for my kindergartener. The Leapster is a huge hit. Both kids love it. So we got a Leapster for the 6 year old. He’s playing the Cars game and Batman (the cool way to learn math) and he’s very happy with it.

So, Leapster–a huge thumbs up (Miller’s job is safe for another year); DS Lite–for older kids who can read.
