I’m very aware of E3 this year, but that’s only because Blizzard’s finally going to reveal the new Alliance race from the expansion there.

Mostly E3, TGS and SpaceWorld for me - I’m not interested in American gaming. I look at TGS and SpaceWorld for the newest titles, and E3 to find out the American release dates.

Just E3, and even then I couldn’t tell you when or where it happens. I used to pay more attention but the “gaming press” is such a laughingstock that I pretty much hear about a potential game from message boards or seeing it on a shelf.

I’m hardly much of a gamer anymore, but…
I’m aware of E[sup]3[/sup]. I know it’s coming up in LA in a bit. I’m mostly aware of it, though, because it’s where the Magic Invitational is held, not because of video game industry.
I read Slashdot, so I’m aware that GDC just happened, and that Sony apparently blew some smoke up various people’s asses about how unbelievably awesome the PS3 will be.

This is pretty much the same for me, too. Most of my game buyings are word-of-mouth, so eventually all the useless junk gets filtered down to the interesting stuff.

I pay fairly close attention to E3, the TGS, and the GDC. Particularly E3 this year should be good. The other ones… I’ve heard of most of them, but don’t particularly follow them.

Same here, I stopped buying gaming magazines a while ago, occasionally I see glossy covers with E3 emblazoned upon them, but that’s all. All I know of them is when I read something like a Wikipedia article that uses a show report as a reference.

Life in any industry tends to be rather insular. I’m sure the general public has no idea what the big industry-centered appliance shows, technology shows, home furnishing shows, agribusiness shows, or even auto shows are about, or when they occur, or where. If anything, the videogame industry’s shows are probably MORE known by the gaming public than any of the above is to _their_ interested public.

Virtually every VG-related message board I’ve been to has a flurry of news before and during E3 every year, so I’m well aware of what that’s about. I’m vaguely aware of the Spike awards. Other than that…no idea (and I’ve been immersed in electronic entertainment my whole life).
Eh, not that important to me anyway. At least 95% of the super-hot new anticipated titles, I have no interest in. And the rest, no way in hell am I shelling out sixty bucks.

I’m a pretty entrenched gamer in his early twenties, for reference. I read gaming news sites daily, but feel generally distanced from mainstream gamer culture. (This isn’t how I felt five years ago, as my handle may show.)
I know that E3 takes place in May and enjoy the burst of news from it. I also like TGS for the news, but couldn’t tell you when it is. I have no interest in actually attending either.
I know the GDC just took place and would like to go someday, as I’m interested in game design.
Both the AIAS awards and the Game Developers Choice awards are vaguely familiar. I think the latter were generally more similar to my preferences. I know that the Spike Game Awards are both popular and awful.
I remember CES from the old NES days, but can’t recall hearing much about it recently. DICE brings up a twinge of recognition but nothing more.
Hope that helps provide some perspective from the more hobbyist side of the spectrum.

Game developer’s conference. I only became aware of its existence last year. It became kind of a pre-E3 thing. It just ended this year. I’ve been following it.

I’m going to E3 this year. Also went last year and I followed each E3 for the last 11 years or so.
**TGS** :
Tokyo Game Show. I so wish I could go. Japanese equivalent to E3.
**Spike Game Awards** :
Everybody involved in that …_thing_ should be shot. Makes me ashamed of being a gamer.

I pay attention to what comes out of E3 each year. That’s where Will Wright premieres his games, and I own most of the ones he’s made to date.
