Honestly, the cops were out of line, that’s clear. The other side of the coin is that having nude selfies on your phone is eventually going to bite you in the ass. What if you lost your phone? In which case you’d find your images on porn sites all over the internet. ---

Even worse, years ago I was working as a janitor at the courthouse where the Sheriffs office was and the deputies would watch all the confiscated porn. Some of the stuff ended up in the trash even the child porn which I was told can only be viewed by certain officers and must be locked up and destroyed as soon as possible. But policy is often different from reality. ---

Actually, the right to be secure in your person, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable search and seizure is exactly that. There is no way anyone can argue that your personal information on your cell phone is not part of this coverage. When cops rob people, do you say “they shouldn’t have had cash on them”? When cops rape people do you say “they shouldn’t have had a rapable orifice on them”? None of this is blaming the victim, because, you know, doorlocks. ---
