# Gas oven phenomenon

My oven has been doing something strange lately, but not consistently. Sometimes it acts normally . . . I set the temperature, it goes on, and stays on until the temperature is reached. But at other times, I set the temperature, and it goes on for a few seconds, off for a few seconds, on and off till the temperature is reached. Obviously this takes longer. Why is it doing this, and why is it only \*sometimes \*doing it?

Google your oven model and “cycle” or “cycling”
You may find that a part needs replacing. You might find a recall as well. We did when researching why the front burner on our electric range would sometimes come on by itself. :eek:

Mine does that as a matter of course, but I’m not sure if it does it before coming up to temperature.
