Tuesday night in eastern Columbus, OH…a Pickerington gas station hiked unleaded to $5.99 per gallon. He said it was an attempt to sway the huge lines he had at the time The very next day he lowered prices to .99 and had an apology posted on his marquis hehe. I’ve never seen lines for gas like I saw Tuesday evening. Reminded me of the gas crisis at the end of the 70’s.
You know, I probably don’t need to second this, but I definitely agree. The “filthy arab” crack pissed me off. I mean if RdB12 meant this as an ironic joke, I might not be quite so bothered by it, but I didn’t see a smiley or anything else that would point towards humor. Heck, I’m not sure I be mollified by that.
I have yet to hear anything that has convinced me that Arabs were definitely responsible for what happened. Even if they had proof that Osama Bin Laden was behind this, it still wouldn’t excuse a crack about “filthy Arabs”. And let’s be reasonable, whoever did this didn’t do this because they were “filthy” they did this because they had a grievance against the United States of America. Not only that, it is quite possible that their greivances are quite legitimate, even if their methods are despicable. You probably wouldn’t want to hear what partisans in occupied Europe did resisting the Axis during World War II, to pick a random example.
On preview I see that this is a hijack and probably an overeaction as well. Sorry about that. I’m still posting it though.
Supply and Demand. There seems to be a greater (although false) demand, so these jerks are raising prices. Don’t fill up just because they expect you to. The less you buy, the cheaper it will stay.
Around here, there was a defacement incident on a Muslim temple. I had this fantasy that I could confront the perpetrators, and I would point out that maybe the terrorists were Arab Muslims, but I think it’s even more significant that they were young males between the ages of 20 and 30, just like you! That’s why I’m going to vandalize your car!
According to Bloomberg, a barrel of oil is going for $27.63, which is down $0.40 from yesterday.
I also saw on business wires where the Saudi’s promised to ensure supply and keep prices from rising. as you probably know, the Saudi’s are the largest producer in OPEC, and have very large excess capacity that can be brought on stream.
Any significant increase in pump price, and we’re talking about a dime, is simply price gouging. I would highly suggest that you remember what stations engaged in this practice, and boycott them until they close.
