Yes, it is but no, you are not being honest at all. What actually happened was, a woman started a thread about something of concern to her. Some guy brushed that off to respond with a joke about her breasts. He was merely asked to stop and the conversation went on. Okay, we all misspeak now and then. Then, this. Why would anyone think it’s acceptable to comment on a woman’s breasts in any way as a response to an issue of concern to her that she’s brought to us? Why would anyone start a thread defending that or complain that a mod had to ask him to show some respect? Or join in and defend jeering at women with unwanted sexual innuendos as “their right?” I wouldn’t talk to men who think like that in real life so I guess I’m done here. Gross. ---

I think the issue is a mod warning and clarification about the rules. AFAIK, three warnings and you’re banned. It’s not about being asked to stop something. ---

It just pisses me off that so many people - people who, incidentally, have no compunction about hurling the most obscene invective they can muster at those they disagree with in the Pit - are harrumphing and clutching their pearls and ostentatiously bemoaning the death of decency because someone cracked a weak, tame assed, boiler-plate, tepid little nothing of a joke. I’m not new here, I was on here long ago. Warnings are not as big a deal to plenty of us women as merely being shown basic respect and not subjected to sexual jeering as a matter of course. And, x-ray, I think you are the one who needs to read this thread again as you seem to be conveniently skipping over quite a few of the comments. ---

It’s pathetic. I don’t do that and have no responsibility for those who do. I am not crazy about some of the things in the pit either but that is not the topic here. Why don’t you take that up with whoever is doing it rather than me? I did not think it was any big deal that someone misspoke. I doubt anyone did. What I am disgusted by is some of the comments on this thread. In any case, if you speak to a woman about her breasts when she has brought up a serious concern to her and you get a warning for it, maybe you should have shown some respect and are not actually any big victim. The one warned, after all, does not seem to have a problem with it. Therefore, the level of outrage over that shown on this thread seems disingenuous. And… those are the ones clutching the pearls here- after all, they started the thread. Again, don’t turn it around. ---

It’s pathetic. That’s what the Pit is for. It’s there for insults and has a looser standard for moderation than IMHO. And even there, some posts do draw warnings. I’ve seen a poster draw a couple of warnings in the Pit for using an insulting term against transgender people. I think he’s currently suspended.
