Please forgive the title of this thread. I do not believe you are ignorant, Gaudere. Nor do I claim to have any evidence that you are a slut (although, if you are one, my address is . . . never mind ;)).
No, the entire reason for this thread title is that I’m fairly confident that it will attract the attention of someone who can answer the question I have. Which I suppose makes me a troll, of sorts. Ah, well, at least I’m trolling for knowledge, arguably a more worthy goal than is normally the case with trolls around here.
“Why is this nimnul posting information-seeking trolls here in the Pit?” (I hear you cry) “That’s why we have GQ and ATMB.” Well, the fact is, the question has its own rather, shall we say _indelicate_ quality. And here it is:
**I’ve pretty well got a handle on the term _felch_. Could someone be so kind as to enlightn me on the meaning of “squick”?**
Also, Byzantine, I must have been in a particularly dense mode the other day when you were flaming Sneevils, because “ribbon clerk” went right past me. A brief provenance would be greatly appreciated.

squicking is drilling a hole in someone’s head and . . . getting off in said hole. As I understand it, one drills the hole a bit above, but between, the eyes, where one can go in between the lobes.

implying that I did not really want to know the answer
_au contraire, mon frere,_ I really _did_ want to know the answer. As it happens, I find the answer to be a somewhat stupid practice. I can’t see it as being a consensual act (as I could imagine for felching), nor could I imagine giving a second thought to refusing an offer to engage in it.
I am grateful for having been enlightened, I thank you for the information, and I wish to take this opportunity to reiterate my apology for the thread title.
Although, having at this point observed a view:reply ratio of roughly 30:1, I feel confident that I have avoided gratuitously pissing off any moderators.
But thank you for your expression of concern.

I, too, am curious about the term “ribbon clerk”. In fact, I pretty much need an explanantion for most of **Byzantine’s** post in the Sneevil thread.

Oh Byz, please explain ‘ribbon clerk’! I can always use a new, good insult!
OK, iampunha, now you’ve done it. I’ve lived through ‘felch’ and ‘squick’. What’s ‘monging’?
BTW, I’m rather irked about the ‘squick’ thing. I’d heard it before on other boards, where it was used as a term of disgust and annoyance. “That really squicked me.” I liked it. It was different, it was short, it got the point across. It will never be the same, after this. Guess I still haven’t learned my lesson, huh.

I’m not claiming to have read **Byz’s** mind, but the term “ribbon clerk”, historically speaking, has always had some of the same connotation as “pansy”. Not exactly as specific as “faggot”, more like “Mama’s boy” or even “wuss”.
I would say that calling someone a “peanut” would have the same connotation as “weenie”.
“Peacock” has always meant “vanity”, so a supremely vain twit would be a “peacock”.

Well, we seem to be getting closer to a resolution. The problem remains that I cannot form a satisfying image in my mind for “ribbon clerk.” What’s coming up for me is the image of a nineteenth century accountant, with the green eyeshade, white shirt with black sleve protectors, and black _ribbon_ garters on his upper arms. Not obviously “pansy-like,” to my way of thinking.
But perhaps I’m inserting the wrong constructions for both “ribbon” and “clerk.” Should I be thinking of the fellow behind the gift-wrapping counter at the department store, instead? I suppose that could work, but it doesn’t strike me as being on a par with the rest of Byz’s flame.
Well, as long as I got the knowledge I was after with regard to my initial query, I’m satisfied.

Okay, someone not to be taken seriously as a worthy opponent. A pretender. A lightweight.
Not implying any derogation of gays.
Not hinting at an accusation of habitual self-abuse.
Am I getting jaded, or does this fall a bit short of Byz’s usual standard for venomous invective? Or perhaps she didn’t view Sneevil as worth the effort required for her usual standard.
In any event, this thread has served _my_ purposes quite admirably, so I bid you all a grateful _adieu_.
