I’m kind of surprised how long they held up. Valentine’s Day roses lasting into March! Sure they were kind of dried out, but they were still purty. ---

Some poster on here had the perfect quote about giving flowers: “Here are some flowers. Watch them die. Like our love.” It cracked me up. My daughter received flowers from her SO on VD, and they are still sitting in the kitchen window, looking every bit as pretty as they did on 2/14. ---

I once gave my ex roses for her birthday, and she complained because they had no smell. I thought she was kidding, then she got all worked up over it and stalked out of the room. I calmly got the garden pruner and snipped off every rose blossom and ground them up in the garbage disposal, leaving just a bunch of thorny stems in the vase on the table. When she returned, she looked at the vase and said, “Where are my roses?” “I didn’t want them to offend you any longer,” I replied. For the only time in our short marriage, she was speechless. ---

Giving flowers is not much different than taking a date out to eat or going to the movie. Flowers last a week and then they are gone. Thats longer than a $30 dinner that is consumed in less than an hour. Or a two hour movie. Its the thought and shared experience that matters. ---

The thread title was originally a message shared with my brother and sister on What’s App (a chat app). My bro is in China so we three have been chatting. My siblings _love_ my gf. The message shocked them until I eventually explained that she trashed them a month later, not immediately after I handed them to her. 😃 ---
