I am really badly hanging out for a fag at the moment. It’s been nigh on three months without a serious craving or any mad scramble to hunt down the but-ends on the street etc…😃 But for some reason, tonight, without any major stressors or triggers, I am so badly craving that I am _almost_ tempted to head off to the shop to buy a pack. Save me from myself, oh righteous Dopers. Lead me away from temptation, and deliver me from nicotine. ☹ ---

The craving is that “door” which opens and can never be closed. Good on you for continuing to fight it. So many of my patients (IANAD) who have stopped, start again because of the smell on someone else’s clothes or from a room recently occupied by a smoker. Treat it as an allergy. Quasi ---

Good on ya for resisting the craving! Take the money you don’t spend on smoking, stuff it in a piggybank, and go to someplace foreign and friendly in a year. When my dad was moving, we did a budget, and discovered that he was spending $250 a month on smoking. Over a year, that adds to a nice little holiday! And there’s nothing wrong with knitting either. 🙂 ---

Don’t do it! You’ll think, “Oh, just one cigarette after three months won’t hurt anything!” But it will – you’ll feel ashamed and dirty and weak and worthless afterward, and you’ll be horribly disappointed in yourself.
