# Gay Men: Do You Resent the "Promiscuity" Stereotype?

Forget the average, since a small number of highly promiscous men could make that number misleading. What’s the median number of partners?

**ambushed** , drawing statistical conclusions about a group is not the same as stereotyping, which often connotes a value judgment. I’m not tall. Should I be offended if a study of American males my age proves that I’m below average height? Should the entire group resent the stereotype that they are, on average, say 5’10? I don’t think so. I might be insulted if somebody said “short people got no reason to live.” 😉 But that’s different - it’s a judgment instead of a factual evaluation.

I realize sexuality is a much touchier subject. (Sorry!) But that kind of criticism sounds a bit Luddite to me.

well I would have to say that every single gay man I have ever met is promiscuous!

not once have I met one who waited till marage to have sex and thats just…

oh wait…
