Earlier this year Gareth William’s murder in London caused a media sensation in Britain when his body was found zipped inside a sports bag in his flat in London. Then … the story went cold, apart from the painfully obvious character assassination that followed in the press. Is there any update on what exactly happened? ---

Absolutely nothing concrete that I’ve been able to find. As you said, there was the usual gutter speculation (must be gay as he wasn’t found with 20 dead hookers etc). Although the inner me does wonder whether this has been D-Noticed\*, or whether there’s just no developments and it was entirely unrelated to his job. - I realise the D Notice system has been deprecated, but I’m sure there are still ways and means 😉 ---

My personal opinion is he died during a kinky sex session, and the other person/people involved got very scared and buggered off. But as I say thats just my personal opinion. How the fuck he got P.V d staggers me, reminds me of the Cold War, “Jolly good chaps networking” . ---

The recent article I read ruled out the “kinky sex gone wrong” theory, as he was (IIRC) naked in a bag. No restraints, fetish clothes, etc. Would his sex partner have spent time undressing a corpse before running? I think the theory was that someone not that knowledgeable about kink tried to make a murder look like it was sex gone wrong. ---

Werner Herzog’s 2007 documentary _Encounters at the End of the World_ is about Antarctica and the people who work there. One part shows the regular Talent Night, and one lady’s talent was to fit herself into a bag about the size of the one in question for the spy. She even “danced” onstage, the bag with her in it rocking back in forth while her arm and hand extended upward in a “No. 1” sign. I can’t recall if she was able to close it all the way herself though. Certainly she couldn’t lock it from inside.
