I saw one of those Huntsman (people) bad boys when I was in Australia. Good Lord! I screamed. I did. I’m not ashamed. It was like a cross between a small dog and a tarantula. The problem is my Aussie guy is pretty arachnophobic so when I told him about it, we had to go on a huntsperson hunt to see if it was in fact still inhabiting the bathroom. It wasn’t. I’m sure if it had been it would have been up to me to deal with it, and since I’d already screamed and run, I’m pretty sure the spider wouldn’t have been impressed. And what’s up with Christmas beetles? Apparently some will bite you, some won’t? I dunno, but they make a godawful noise and kept wanting to fly in the window and into my hair. Yes, I did scream. Thanks. This is why I’m not allowed to go to the beach or anywhere that isn’t paved over. That, and I’m scared of drop bears. 😉 I also saw a skink, which thanks to Steve Irwin I was able to identify - yeah, he’s annoying and nobody over there talks that way, but thanks to him I’m well informed about the myriad of things that’ll just kill me when I move over there in March. I vaguely remember reading something which said the redbacks were out and about earlier this year because of the drought so maybe they’re having a good breeding season? We’ve not got redbacks around this year that I have seen. They were worse last year. Steve Irwin is no way, no how goodlooking but I like what he’s doing with his zoo. There’s a fine array of snakes there. Behind glass. Which is a Good Thing. ---

Actually, I now remember seeing the film clip for that Working Class Man/Advance Australia Fair song on Video Hits a couple weeks ago. Kind of funny, in a cheesy sort of way :). ---
