Polk never sought a second term. Nixon wasn’t eligible, and above and beyond that was no longer an incumbent in 1976. ---

And of course, no word…not _one_ word…on funding research and prevention of the dread menace of Cognitive Dissonance, but I’ve come to expect that… And one oddly noticed…it seems by my rought estimate that if GeeDubya hadn’t been interrupted by heckling and a couple of incidents of extended applause, he would have finished his speech within seconds of the _Daily Show_s opening credits. I gotta wonder: would there have been a way to measure if, say, 27% of the people watching the show switched to watch John Stewart make fun of him? ---

I recognized the first part, as emphasized by the fact in my post that you repeated;) I included Polk because let’s face it, when have we known a president to deliberately not seek a second term? Nixon, for his part, was a joke. Whether I meant that wrt my inclusion of his name in my post or in a more overall sense is an exercise for the reader… ---
