Thinking back on the bachelor parties I’ve attended, I’m glad they’ve all been gendered.

I also feel blessed that during the years I could have attended various “showers” they’ve been strictly for the women.

IMHO your daughter did absolutely nothing wrong.

> Now the bridal party is planning the bachelor/bachelorette parties. Small families on both side so invitations go out to the first cousins. The guys are going to a minor league baseball game (admission prepaid by the groom’s family) reserving the “party deck” and hang out at the ball game for the afternoon. The following weekend the ladies are going to a “wine school” at a local winery for the afternoon, admission paid for by us, the bride’s parents. **I know this is a sexist attitude (men’s event/women’s event)**

These events sound so lame I would hardly call them “sexist” anything.

Here’s the thing. I have no problem calling people whatever they want to be called and treating everyone with a basic level of respect. But I don’t think the world needs to walk on eggshells to worry about offending the x% of people who for whatever reason don’t identify with the traditional “binary” genders.

Your daughter is absolutely right. Everyone else gets to go to one event. Shawn needs to pick a gender for this particular evening.

I would also tell your SIL that you have received their family’s RSVP as “not attending” and will make their place available to other guests. In fact, I would un-invite them for insulting my daughter.
