Hopefully it died as suddenly as its people.
I had forgotten that Hackman had a starring role in Absolute Power.
Yes. We do.
From those same shows, I also learned that what Americans call a “den,” Brits apparently call a “snug.”
The lounge is not what you think, either.
And neither is the mud room. ![]()
Yes. We do.
Good to know. I always heard it relating to the little, partly closed off area in pubs, but I guess that could be considered a “den”
It’s where the pet lizards are kept?

Update just now: Reporting the wife died around the 11th of Hantavirus. Gene died around the 17th. Poor old guy musta been wandering around the house dazed and confused as a result of advanced Alzheimer’s.
I really wish it was Carbon Monoxide.
Ah, that’s awful and horrifying.
And the dog was locked in a crate. ![]()
I think hantavirus is spread through inhaling rodent droppings, urine and other body fluids. I’m going to keep wearing a mask when sweeping up those little jimmies.
Does death from hantavirus happen suddenly? From the reports, it seemed she was taking an OTC medication at the moment she died. Wouldn’t she have had some cold or flu-like symptoms for at least a few days before she died?
God that’s horrible. Maybe the Hantavirus was from the chipmunks and such you get out that way? When I lived on the west coast always tried convince people I was with not to go near the super cute chipmunks as they carry god-damned plague ![]()
I did have one question though. The coronor said “Hackman died of heart disease, with advanced Alzheimer’s disease contributing”. So how does Alzheimer’s disease contribute to heart disease? Is there a direct cause or do they mean the fact he was unable to feed or otherwise look after himself
because of the Alzheimer’s and that contributed to the heart disease?
It might not have been that sudden. Hantavirus can come with breathing difficulties. If she has an episode and collapsed, she could very well have been lying there for hours before finally succumbing, while Hackman was unable to process what was happening.

I read that as Alzheimer’s contributing to his death, not his heart disease.
In these circumstances all sort of things contributed to his death. Alzheimer’s probably contributed the most by keeping him from dealing with the problems facing him rationally.
