> As I said, I keep the generator on the deck. I use a [12" Kryptonite U-lock](https://www.purecycles.com/products/kryptonite-keeper-12-u-lock) around one of the 4x4 roof support posts, and with the loop of [7-foot Kryptonite cable](https://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-KryptoFlex-Double-Bicycle-Security/dp/B000NOO3ZQ/) on one of ‘U’ of the lock. The other loop of the cable is connected to another 7-foot cable with a [Kryptonite round padlock](https://www.backcountry.com/kryptonite-stainless-steel-round-padlock). The other end of _that_ cable goes around the frame of the generator, and is secured by a lock that is of similar construction to a [Master lock](https://cdn.masterlock.com/masterlock/resources/img/home-content-boxes/product-selector-personal.png), only is larger.
> I think the set-up would keep a casual thief honest, and it allows me to move the generator around on the deck.
