Pens resign Pascal Dupuis to 2-year contract

They’re hoping to be able to work something out with Tyler Kennedy. But guys, if you DO decide to sign Jagr, please, keep him away from the casinos.

Jagr a Penguin, and a team called the Jets is playing in Winnipeg? AND I had a Pepsi made with cane sugar this morning. So this is what it’s like to be 9 again!

Bet you paid a lot more for that Pepsi than you did when you were 9

In other news, congrats to Ed Belfour, Doug Gilmour, Mark Howe, and Joe Nieuwendyk, who all were selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The most quotable current player in hockey, Kevin Bieksa has finally officially re-signed with the Canucks for five more years.

Don’t forget that Ryan Smyth plays for the Oil and Vancouver just rioted after losing game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. 1994 lives again.

Indeed, but shame on the voters for snubbing Pat Burns again.

I was rather surprised they didn’t pick someone from the builders category this year. Normally, they pick someone often just for the hell of it.

And anybody who can get fans of the Habs, Leafs and Bruins to agree on something belongs in the Hall on sheer principle.

Habs basically let James Wiznooskee walk (yeah, I’m going phonetic with that one, lol). Terrible move, IMO. Jackets got a deal for a seventh rounder. Get rid of Josh Georges before him!

Also, Paul Karyia retires, and takes a shot at Matt Cooke in the process!

Max Talbot traded to Toronto

:frowning:

You know your cite says he’s NOT been traded, right?

But if it happens… just what the Leafs needed, another middling-talent player with “truculence.”

“Wisniewski”. Too bad, I liked him and wish he could stay, but he played himself into a better contract than (it seems) the Habs could/wanted to afford. He was really popular here. I suspect he won’t sign in Columbus and will end up elsewhere after July 1st, though. If he does sign, it becomes a 5th rounder. He wasn’t going to sign in Montreal without knowing what the UFA market was like, so getting a 7th rounder instead of letting him go for free is better than nothing.

I think Gorges is underrated as a defenseman, but he’s still young too and is a great top-4 player to have on the team. Though I wouldn’t compare the Wiz to Gorges… Wisniewski is a good offensive defenceman with a killer point shot, but Gorges it a lot better in his own zone. For offensive D, though, the Habs have Markov and Subban, and now Weber (2 years, $1.7M and played well this year), and from what I hear, Yemelin. Defensively, Gorges and Gill are top shut-down players. And Spacek fits in there somewhere…! Not a bad defensive corps, and the Habs need more help up front right now.

When does the season start again? I need more hockey!

Originally it said he WAS being traded, then it was edited after the rumor was found not to be true.

And you have no idea how popular Max is around here.
mnemosyne, I’m with you – bring on October already!

Hayley Wickenheiser has been awarded the Order of Canada “for her achievements as an athlete and for her contributions to the growth of women’s hockey.” She truly is an amazing hockey player. Congratulations to her!

October, Guin? - I’ll settle for pre-season games in September! At least the CFL kicks off tonight - it’ll help hold me over!

Oh, that’s right – I forgot it started at the end of September. (I was thinking it started in Oct.) I just cannot wait to hear, “And your captain…SIDNNEEEEEYYYY CROOOOOSBBEEEEEEYYYY!!!” I just know the crowd is going to go absolutely apeshit.

Plus I can’t wait to finally watch a game on the local channel. I’m totally sick of Versus. I hate Pierre McGuirre.

You know that McGuire is moving to NBC/Versus full time, right? You Americans get more of him! We are still deciding whether to make the move a national holiday or not…

So, the Brad Richards show begins tomorrow. Who will end up with him? Right now, I’d say the Rangers would be the favorites.

And please, no Kovalchuk type drama to drag on through the whole summer!

With the NFL and NBA lockouts, Bettman must be giddy!

Jagr got a 3.3 million dollar deal from the Flyers. LMAO!!!

They got robbed. They trade away Richards and Carter and replace them with Jagr? I can’t see that working out at all. They should’ve figured that out when the Detroit Red Wings (officially the NHL’s retirement home) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (where Jagr apparently still has a home) both told him to hit the bricks because his salary demands were too high. He’s talented. No question there, but he’s also old, unwilling to play anything close to defense, and is prone to simply coasting through a game.

But as a Detroit fan, better them than the Wings. The $2.5 million was also far too much for him.

Habs sign Erik Cole, four years, 18 million; also Peter Budaj, two years, 2.3 million.

As for those leaving Montreal, Wisniewski got six years and 33 million from Columbus, Hamrlik and Jeff Halpern are off to Washington; 2/7 for Hammer, 1/825K for Halpern. And Alex Auld heads back down Autoroute 40/Highway 417 to Ottawa on a one-year deal.
