Belak’s death was a suicide. He hanged himself. According to his mother, he had been suffering from depression.

There’s a few sources I read that are still saying the family views this as a “tragic accident,” which makes me wonder if there’s more to this story. At the same time, I hope to God it isn’t some sort of David Carradine thing that follows his name around for years…
Penguins announce that Crosby will have a press conference on Wednesday (7 SEP). Speculation is rampant on some of the hockey sites.
New Jets jerseys revealed. I’ve liked the roundel since it was announced, but I’m kind of meh on the jerseys themselves. Nice colours, but the stripes on the forearms bother me.
I love the dramatic emergence from the Hercules. Gotta be kind of fun for the players!
Watching the news conference video, I’m slightly surprised at just how awkward the “MC” from TSN was. So glad I won’t have to listen to that coverage on a regular basis!
Since this thread is kinda old and already at 3 pages, anyone object to closing it and starting a new one as we’re getting close to training camps and preseason? The monthly NHL threads worked pretty well last year, so I’d propose we keep a monthly thread going this season as well.
Sounds good…either a pre-season only or “Sept/Oct” thread and then a monthly one until the playoffs? Go ahead and start whatever you’d like, we’ll follow 
I don’t like the uniforms.
The colours are fine but the crest is blah. It screams modern WHA if that makes any sense. It would make a great shoulder patch but just doesn’t work for me on the front.

If it were going to be good news, I can’t help but think they’d just let it wait until training camp and show him on the ice. Also seems kind of odd to hold a press conference for Crosby to say “I’m fine.”
That said, how bad was this concussion? I know everybody is different, but it seems odd that (iirc) his first concussion would keep him out this long.
