I have a website set up through Geocities. I have an e-mail via the website that goes into my Yahoo! account.

Lately, e-mail has been arriving at my Yahoo! account, but it’s been getting bounced back when sent to my webmaster account as:

Reporting-MTA: dns;[hotmail.com](http://hotmail.com)
Received-From-MTA: dns;[mail.hotmail.com](http://mail.hotmail.com)
Arrival-Date: Sun, 8 Sep 2002 05:31:57 -0700

Final-Recipient: [rfc822;webmaster@noamendment6.com](mailto:rfc822;webmaster@noamendment6.com)
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 relaying denied for \<[webmaster@noamendment6.com](mailto:webmaster@noamendment6.com)\>

My account is current, my e-mail capacity is only 40%, and I’ve e-mailed Yahoo! and gotten the standard computer generated reply. I’ve e-mailed them back for more info but have yet to hear from them.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is there an 800 number I can call for Geocities? I can’t find one on their website…the only way you can contact them is through e-mail.

What do you mean by your ‘webmaster’ account?

Like, “[mysitename@geocities.com](mailto:mysitename@geocities.com)” or “[mysitename@yahoo.com](mailto:mysitename@yahoo.com)”?

Or from your error codes, do you literally mean “[webmaster@mysitename.com](mailto:webmaster@mysitename.com)”?

If that’s the case, I didn’t know geocities had started allowing [www.mywebsite.com](http://www.mywebsite.com) urls.

Or did you get [www.mywebsite.com](http://www.mywebsite.com) through somebody else, like 000domains, and point it to your geocities account? I didn’t even know geocities allowed you to do that.

Anyway, if that’s the case, then it would be up to whoever sold you your [www.mywebsite.com](http://www.mywebsite.com) url - did they say they offered e-mail?

I’m with **Bup**. Is there any way you could re-phrase your question? I’ve been with Geocities for almost 10 years – I haven’t a clue as to what you’re talking about.

Before Yahoo! bought up Geocities, I had the (hypothetical) e-mail _[charmian@geocities.com](mailto:charmian@geocities.com)_, when Yahoo bought out Geocities, it all got consolidated to _[charmian@yahoo.com](mailto:charmian@yahoo.com)_. Any mail going to [charmian@geocities.com](mailto:charmian@geocities.com) gets auto-forwarded to [charmian@yahoo.com](mailto:charmian@yahoo.com) (the @geocities address is essentially just an alias).

As Bup asked, do you have some kind of [webmaster@charmian.com](mailto:webmaster@charmian.com) kind of thing going on?

Or is is that messges going to you @geocities is not getting passed on to your Yahoo account?

It’s [webmaster@mydomainname.com](mailto:webmaster@mydomainname.com).

Sorry I confused you. I don’t know all the tech terms and I may not be explaining this correctly. I registered and set up a website using Geocities. If you go to [geocities.com](http://geocities.com) you can see the different platforms(?) they offer, and you can also register a domain name through them. They will even help design the website if you want, using Sitewizard.

I also have a Yahoo! account, that’s [myname@yahoo.com](mailto:myname@yahoo.com).

When people visit the website and attempt to e-mail me at the [webmaster@mydomainname.com](mailto:webmaster@mydomainname.com), it gets bounced back with a “relaying denied” error. It’s supposed to send any such e-mails to my Yahoo account ([myname@yahoo.com](mailto:myname@yahoo.com))

Does that make sense?

Ohhhh… okay, that makes sense.

You’re on one of the premium members with Geocities Pro (I guess they have a “Webmaster” version too – oo! all those fancy names!)

The Geocities forums may be helpful – you can’t possibly be the only one having this problem. It could be something dumb in the e-mail preferences.

I’ll see if I can find the old forums. I remember last time I went hunting for them they were a HUGE pain in the butt to find. Maybe they dont even exist anymore – but I’ll let you know what I find…

I spent half an hour long distance with Yahoo tech support. They verified the problem and said they’d check into it.

Hmmm…we’ll see how long that takes. I’m not very optimistic…they don’t have an 800 number for support, and you can only call between 8a-5p PST.
