I’m seeking a good Geologic Time Line with details about what life forms came when. Specifically, I need details about the Mississippian and Pennsylvanian Periods. Also, I am seeking some information about when primitive man and and the earliest primates appeared. I have conflicting reports of earliest man appearing in the Tertiary Period vs. the Quaternary Period (both of the Cenozoic Era).

Google has helped somewhat, but I thought there’d be more detail. I was hoping some SDopers might have some additional info or favorite websites about this…

Also, what are/were trilobytes?
Thanks,

- Jinx

Google “trilobite”. The correct spelling helps.

try this [scale](http://www.palaeos.com/Timescale/default.htm) for a start…
the Pennsylvanian and Misissippian eras are combined in English and other timescales into the [Carboniferous](http://www.palaeos.com/Paleozoic/Carboniferous/Carboniferous.htm)
