This is just plain stupid. This is even more stupid than the conspiracy of silence around Roosevelt’s paralysis. Patriotism does not include pretending that the president is a stud-muffin. ---

I think what was happening was that customers were complaining about her act (not the chicken legs bit specifically.) Unhappy customers often = lost sales, so Borders just opted to decline to invite the performer back again. Whether the customers should have been offended or complained or not is a separate issue. As was whether Borders should have stuck up for her or not. Not my place to say. My S.O. works for Borders, and he’s our sole income right now. ---

I worked at a Borders briefly – it was an extremely politically correct place. I once said to a co-worker that my hometown was a “blue collar town”. He complained to the manager on the grounds that he was from a blue collar family and I had insulted him. _Puleeze!_ And hey, why was it okay for anybody and everybody to make jokes about Bill Clinton’s chubbiness – the McDonald’s stuff, donut-boy, etc? ---

Hasn’t everyone figured it out yet? We can’t insult the current president (unlike the last one) because the very fact of _being George Bush_ is an act of virtue. I know it sounds absurd. But the Bush family has confused “privilege” with “superiority.” They are our _natural_ rulers. Enough Americans understand this to have put little Georgie Shortpants where he is today. But I’m not bitter… ---

Personally, I think he looks a bit like a monkey. I mean, seriously, look at the nose down area… same slight puff-outage around the lips… and those ears- good God, those ears… I could hang an entire load of laundry on those if they were pierced… and perhaps Dick Cheney is in one of them whenever they say he’s at an “undisclosed location”… You could probably fit Condolezza Rice AND Tony Blair’s head in the other one… ---

Just a brief defense of our beloved El Presidente (and I do it as a runner, not a fan of him or his policies). President Bush is actually a fairly regular and surprisingly fast runner, which would probably explain the “chicken legs”. Distance runners just do not have huge legs; they have skinny legs. I know in the article about Bush in a recent Runner’s World, I was shocked to see that he runs 5k’s in around 20 minutes. So back to your regularly scheduled program…
