When I was in Utah I heard a very non threatening Offspring song (get a job) in Seattle they play the whole song In Utah the edit out “Bitch” and “Dick” * * * Magnificent to behold - Greatly to be praised. ---

Another Offspring song, “The Kid’s Aren’t Alright” was edited on MTV. The character in the video blows out a lungful of smoke as the line states: “. . .stays at home, smokes a lot of pot” but “Pot” is bleeped out. I found this oddly disturbing. I guess they thought leaving it in would encourage drug use. * * * “Shoplifting is a victimless crime. Like punching someone in the dark.” -Nelson Muntz. ---

On a recent “Frontline” on PBS, I believe the topic was how syphilis became rampant in a community because of sexually promiscuous teenagers. Some girls sang some (rap?) song which included the word “fuck” and I think also “cunt”. Not bleeped out. ---

To poppyp, There was an absolutely hilarious, rolling on the floor dying laughing episode of the Drew Carey Show some time ago (last season?, season before last? I forget) in which Drew Carey engaged in a continuous and unabated farting spree in a promotional video which starred himself and was shown to a board of directors meeting at the company he works for. (All this was of course a complete surprise to Drew Carey as he was presenting the video to the directors–his co-workers set him up). I never would have thunk that farting could be so funny on TV (of course, I am very hoity-toity and would never knowingly watch such a thing). Anyway, the farting ground has been broken in a very big way on TV a couple years ago. Been there, done that. ---

Two questions regarding the original list of seven… IIRC Howard Stern’s movie made mention of the “Seven dirty words” as if they were an official FCC guideline. Is this true? Regardless, I was always amused that they added a specific no-no for “motherfucker”. If “fuck” is a dirty word, doesn’t that preclude “motherfucker”, “pianofucker”, “fuckzilla” or any other combination thereof? * * * Never murder a man when he’s busy committing suicide. - Woodrow Wilson ---
