How sad. I heard it on the news this morning. I’ve said it before, but it just doesn’t seem right when bright stars in our world like D. Adams and G. Harrison burn out so quickly and abject pricks like Bin Laden and Saddam seem to go on forever. But George left us with music to remember him by. Sad, beautiful, haunting music. Thank you, Mr. Harrison, and Godspeed. ---

I’d begun reading _Anthology_, the massive coffee-table book published last year. In the beginning each one tells his story: George’s distinguishes itself by being full of the wit that was Harrison’s. Spiritual, witty and talented is how I’d describe the ‘Quiet Beatle’. His _All Things Must Pass_ triple album, re-issued last year in a remastered, digitalized format, is one beautiful piece of work. ---

I woke up in front of the TV (as usual) at about 4:00 a.m. and when channel hopping through some of the early newscasts… and there was the ticker, “George Harrison dies.” Sad day… first thing I thought of was when someone here, a couple weeks ago, posted a “George is Dead” thread which turned out to be premature. Sigh… ☹ ---

I don’t know what to add. I’m very sad. I’ve been listening to George and the boys all morning. My husband and I wake up to a clock radio alarm set on an NPR station. We heard the beginning of “Something” and just knew what the announcement following would be. Ah, George. You added so much light to the world and it is now darker with your passing. ---

On one hand, I hate this. I’m one of the biggest Beatles fans I know, and so is my dad. I’m wondering if he knows yet. On the other hand, he had cancer. I’m not saying I’m happy he’s dead, but… I love you, George. Thank you… ---

The Beatles would not have become pop/rock music giants and a cultural phenomenon without GH. Period. Lennon-McCartney got much of the credit, and deservably so. But Harrison’s contributions were essential. A day is coming, not too awfully far off, when there will be no surviving Beatles left. And a generation of Americans and Brits are going to freak out, and feel really mortal. RIP ---

- I heard the news today, oh boy…:(\* Just a few days ago, my hubby and I were discussing the very real possibility that George was actively dying when we heard that Paul and Ringo had flown to England to be with him. I had heard that he had cancer in his lungs, brain, maybe bone and was trying a very risky treatment. And now he is gone. _I look at you all and see the love that is sleeping._ And a generation mourns. [Traveling Wilberrys]and maybe somewhere down the road a ways, I’ll think of you and wonder where you are these days… maybe somewhere when somebody plays “purple Haze”[/Traveling Wilberrys] Goodbye George, you are greatly missed. ---

George was not my favorite Beatle either, but he did write some of my favorite songs, from Doctor Roberts, to Taxman to here comes the sun. Farewell George I will miss you and I will treasure your legacy. Keith ---
