I listened to George Takei get interviewed by Adam Carolla on his radio show a few months back (outstanding interview I thought) and Adam and the crew were busting balls a little bit trying to get George to dish on whats up with Shatner.
George started out being diplomatic and Adam was basically speculating by speaking in generalities and putting words in his mouth and George sorta eventually wordlessly agreed. He wasn’t really throwing Shatner under the bus or going out of the way to be critical or rude. Adam was the one who brought it up and George was having fun with the interview and was just going along with the humor.
Everyone came away with the understanding that Shatner wasn’t popular on set and that he and George weren’t close and that he wasn’t going to be invited. He wasn’t particularly mean or critical, just eventually answered the direct questions in what was a fun, joking interview as opposed to some serious expose.
