Madison did so while running for his life. Bush is not behaving any differently in that respect than any of the other Presidents. ---

Who’d be my choice of presidents for leading me into battle? Irrelevant as presidents don’t lead into battle. There’s the whole thing about _ **the military is not in charge of the civilian government in the United States of America–being a member or former member of the military has EXACTLY ZERO to do with qualification for the presidency** _. About the Roman emperors: I admit to either a lack of education about how they became emperors or I’ve just plain forgotten what the teachers taught me). So, did they really have to prove themselves in battle first? ---
