I went off over this about a month ago in the Pit when someone attributed these to Gore. These quotes are NOT made up, as Phil said. Neither are they Bushisms. Virtually every one can be attributed to Quayle. There may be one or two made up ones that I missed, but the vast majority are Quayleisms. No need to make up lies about these guys. There’s plenty of true stories. ---

I must second Bumbazine and Flymaster in their desire to dislike the man based on his record and statements, not goofy lies. Wrt Adam Kleimer (sp?), Bush said he wished he hadn’t been overheard. And, speaking of the DUI, he said “I regret it happened”. I guess it’s hard to take responsibility when you’ve been bailed out and given easy moneymakers. and the reason gas prices are so high? Dubya drinks crude oil like Evian is going out of style jb ---

I think my favorite GW quote is the one about Social Security. This one’s real…I saw the video footage…and it’s in a commercial I believe. “Al Gore wants social security to be controlled by the government. He’s treating it like it’s some sort of FEDERAL PROGRAM!!!” Genius, GW, genius. Tell me…what kind of program is SS? Jman ---

It makes me sad that people believe the urban legends and other such fiction sent in forwards. It makes me even more sad that these people would base decisions like who to vote for on these emails. ---

I’m guessing in 1976 those were fairly common DUI penalties. So how exactly did he get “bailed out”? ---
