The Ryan posts that there is a difference between hunting down dissention and prosecuting a critic who seeks you out.
Fear Itself responds that dissention is protected in both cases, and asks someone to explain the difference.
I explain that dissention is not always protected in both cases, that there are a number of ways in which dissention can be punished.
Fear Itself then misses my point completely and launches into a bizarre defense of Mr. Bursey against charges I didn’t make, and throws in a personal attack for good measure.
Hokay…I don’t know Mr. Bursey nor the specifics of his case. But, if he did nothing wrong, then he had the basis for a nice lawsuit. Provided he didn’t do anything like over-react when a officer asked him (and only asked him) to leave or something. Which, if he was arrested for trespassing, he probably did (polite people do not get arrested for trespassing).
If I missed your point, it was because it wasn’t clear that your statements were purely hypothetical and had no relationship to the case being discussed. I presumed you were attributing actions to Mr. Bursey that were not in evidence. And I don’t think it was unreasonable to infer that your “too bad so few actually understand it…” comment was aimed at anyone who supported Mr. Bursey’s free speech defense.
If I misconstrued your statements, let me apologize: I am sorry you were imprecise.
