# German vs Russian weapons in World War II

Apart from the cost and complexity of Tigers, and the difficulty of moving a 60 ton tracked vehicle around the country, there was their high fuel consumption. They could barely manage 100 miles on a full tank of fuel.

As a corollary the Abrams tank is pretty much obsolete for similar reasons. In West germany, pointing East, they were formidable because ever since WW2 the allies (mostly the US) has been strengthening bridges, widening roads and setting up fuel dumps. In the desert they were pretty good too, but in, for example the Crimea and the Ukraine, they would be useless,
